Just a short distance from Port-a-Piment, Grotte Marie Jeanne caves are one of Haiti’s little secrets.
Located about 15 minutes from Port-a-Piment, they are considered to be the longest cave system
in the country. About 4 kilometers of exploration await the ones who dare to venture in, and armed
with a guide, you can easily spend between one and three hours in here, exploring the mysterious
labyrinth and marveling at the magnificent colours, stalactites and stalagmites that live in this
magical underground world. There’s life down here so be prepared to see bats, cockroaches, birds,
crickets and other critters.
