OCTOBER 6
Run for Pompey
This is a marathon honouring the slave,
Pompey, who rallied other slaves to defy an
order to be transferred to work on another
island. Their wish was granted by the
Governor and they were allowed to stay on
their plantation in Exuma. Pompey was then
considered to be a hero and this race, and its
related fun activities, are now being held in
his honour.
OCTOBER 13
Mars Bay Conch Fest
South Andros
This is an annual festival which showcases the
history and culture of “conching” in South
Andros and features a number of indigenous
cultural activities that emphasize the conch.
There will also be lots of other local food and
drinks, plus children’s games, activities and a
Junkanoo Rush-out.
NOVEMBER 9 - 12
Wahoo Smackdown IX
This fun-filled and authentic Bahamian fishing
tournament, led by longtime Bimini Big Game
Club dockmaster, Captain Robbie Smith, has
drawn thousands of anglers to the island
since its inception. It has become an annual
tradition for many, attracting a number of
world-class anglers each year, who enjoy
the sport of Wahoo fishing in the waters of

DECEMBER 14 - 17
Atlantis Crown Gymnastics
Invitational
This is the largest Gymnastics Competition in
the Caribbean, and it will feature men’s and
women’s gymnastics, plus trampoline and
tumbling. Special guest will be three-time
Olympic Champion, Svetlana Boginskaya. For
