For Mildred, words cannot adequately intimate
the simplistic pleasure which she derives from
the incorporation of richly hued, luxuriant fabrics
into the daily processes of her craft, nor can words
meaningfully serve justice to her uncanny talent of
envisioning a design and bringing it to fruition, in the
most awe-striking manner achievable.
There is a distinctively classical influence to be
observed in the breathtaking designs produced
by Mildred’s hand, being exceptionally inspired by
the avant-garde designs for which the illustrious
Donna Karan has come to be renowned, as well as
the polished elegance of the Carolina Herrera gowns
oft gracing the figures of the world’s most venerated
women. One may also readily discern, in Mildred’s
pieces, vestiges of the impeccable tailoring which
marks the signature style of Stella McCartney.
Above all else, however, Mildred’s own daughter,
Jenny, constitutes her chief muse, and it is with this
unspeakably beloved figure borne in mind that any of
Mildred’s designs are conceived.
With her mind remaining ever aswirl with a bounty of
prospective designs in the making, there is scarcely
a restful moment to be enjoyed in Mildred’s studio,
in which she bustles about, to and fro, with the
unrelenting vigour of a foal.
