PLACES OF INTEREST in Jamaica

Rio Grande River
River rafting in Jamaica started on the Rio Grande in 1911 when the rafts were used to transport bananas,
but today they are used for transporting tourists on a two and a half hour river adventure. The rafts are
made of bamboo and are ‘poled’ by the boatman. The Rio Grande tends to get less crowded than the
Martha Brae River, offering gentle rapids and beautiful scenery.
