Sweet Bajan Food

The cuisine of Barbados is a blend of African, European and Caribbean flavours which results in a delectably unique culinary experience. If you were to be invited to the home of a Bajan for Sunday dinner, the infusion of the different flavour influences will be subtly detected in the rice and peas, macaroni pie, and stewed chicken or beef which may be the evening’ s fare. Nothing beats home-cooked food in the islands! There will be salad also, coleslaw perhaps and definitely cou-cou and flying fish, the island’ s national dish. With flying fish being their national symbol, I’ m certain you will have many opportunities to eat lots of it while on the island, cooked in a variety of ways.
So, be adventurous and explore the variety of culinary flavours Barbados offers. Your palate will be pleased.
