© Luc Brousseau © Ballahoo Restaurant All this delving into St. Kitts´ history had given rise to a nagging hollow in my stomach, so it was now time to fill it. Where should I eat? A nice, friendly place that would allow me to view the Circus while savouring local fare, of course! My place of choice turned out to be Ballahoo Restaurant, a peaceful, breezy, open-air spot overlooking the Circus with friendly and accommodating staff. Even more colourful than the rainbow of neatly arranged tables and chairs were their culinary options: imagine brightly coloured veggies paired with succulent, rosy-pink seafood or toasty golden meats on soft beds of steaming starches accented by perfectly chilled, neatly dressed cocktails. Imagine the inviting aroma tickling your nostrils and your hand steadying your glass as liquid contentment flows down your throat, all while enjoying the bird´s-eye view of the little people below (remember my imaginary toy train ride?). Sandwiched between the blur of happy chaos below and airy fingers of a gentle Kittitian breeze caressing my back, I exhaled, settled in, and ...wait a minute...oh no! It´s time to call that taxi! I have a plane to catch, right? I’m only here for lunch! 356 © Ballahoo Restaurant Reluctantly, I glided down the semi-dark restaurant stairway onto the street below and hopped into my waiting taxi. Once again aboard my little toy train, we “choo-chooed” the short journey back to the airport. Cruising past happy faces and friendly palms waving us goodbye, I realized that my taste of St. Kitts had been short and surprisingly sweet -- sweet enough to savour the fond memories but short enough to beckon me back for another visit! My exploration of St. Kitts had only just begun. I would be back, but next time, I’d venture “up north” for dinner!
