is a facility developed in the Kalinago Territory to showcase the culture and tradition of the Kalinago people. The name in English means Carib Village by the Sea. This is the area most people coming to the Kalinago territory will visit. There they will see where the traditional way of life is exposed to the visiting public. One will find extracts of their history, traditional names, language and culture interpreted for one’s understanding. It is usually referred to as the Model Village. To really enjoy and appreciate the Kalinago Territory one needs to spend some time in the Territory to understand the friendliness of the people and to enjoy the various sites that is offered to the tourist.
There is the Kalinago Barana Aute’; L’ escalier Tete Chien, a half an hour hike to the ocean front at Seniku to visit the site of the Legend of the Snake; Salybia Heritage, where the administrative development of the Kalinago Territory actually started, and where Christianity was introduced; the Cemetery; the Church; the School; the Police Station; the Bay where their canoes go out to sea; the site of the last Carib war; the Horse Back Ridge panoramic site seeing; the Stone Field Heritage Site, clean clear water for swimming and hiking; see petroglyphs and stone pots in the rocks along the river, with larouma reed growing along the river banks. These reeds are used by the Kalinago people in handicraft weaving; watch the traditional dancing by various cultural groups; in the secret pool deep in the heart of the forest, visitors can swim in their birthday suits and be in communion with Mother Nature. All this and more are available in the Kalinago Territory.
