Menen-I Designs is a clothing brand in the British Virgin Islands that was established in 2009 by its sole proprietor Markita Turnbull-Smith, “In 2009, I was searching for a name and symbol that can embody both beauty and royalty. As a result, the brand adopted its name from the majestic Empress of Ethiopia, Empress Menen Asfaw and my logo also was inspired by the ancient adinkra symbol for beauty.” The Menen-I Designs brand is geared towards encouraging and empowering feminine beauty. It is all about boosting women’s self esteem by providing them with designs that provide the perfect balance between sexy and modest with a splash of African and Caribbean culture. Markita says, “I want women to feel and express their feminity while still not feeling too overly exposed.”
