PEDRO ST. JAMES The history of the Cayman Islands lives within the walls of this impressively restored historic building, the oldest in the Cayman Islands. Built by slaves in 1780, it was part of a plantation owned by William Eden. This building, like other on the islands, has served many purposes over the years including a jail and courthouse. It is known as the birthplace of democracy of the Cayman Islands as it was here in 1831 that the decision was made to form the country’s first elected parliament. CLICK HERE for more information.
