Yes, I would visit the
Islands, again!
Summer is upon us! As we
organise our itinerary for the
perfect vacation experience,
I reckon some of us have
already made our long lists
of holiday maybes. And, why
not? Over the past decades,
travellers have ventured into
many hitherto untravelled
places experiencing exotic
adventures with great stories
to tell. The Caribbean region
has undoubtedly found
its way under the travel
microscope, and as bodies
become tan-ready, many will
be heading to the resplendent
Cayman Islands.
These islands embody both
luxury and an abundance
of activities for couples,
families, divers, and lovers
of adventure. I guess this
explains why it comes highly
recommended for holidays.
Probably watching Tom
Cruise’s 1993 flick, The Firm,
National Lampoon’s Last Resort
and other movies filmed here
have made this destination
more intriguing, but these
movies were definitely not
able to fully capture the
beauty of the Cayman Islands.
From endless coral reefs,
beautiful fringes of coconut
palms sprouting from fine,
white sand, the swathes of
turquoise beaches, to the
lavish display of cultural
steadfastness and mouth-
watering cuisines, I would
easily make the Cayman
islands one of the places I’d
visit year after year. Travellers
should brace themselves for
memorable experiences on
this British Overseas Territory.
More than a tropical paradise,
I think the veritable touristic
features of the Cayman
Islands begin with the ever-
shimmering Seven Mile
Beach. The nearby resort
hotels are excellent locations
from which to savour the
beautiful talcum-powder sand
whose edges steep artistically
into aquamarine waters. A fine
place for watersports, you can
enjoy long hours of adventure
both above and beneath,
either exploring dive sites and
admiring coral reefs with its
burst of colours and marine
life, or frolicking aboard a
boat, kayaking or simply
enjoying an evening sunset
aboard a luxurious boat rental.
Picturesque and fun!
Topping my personal list
of attractions, however, is
Stingray City on Grand
Cayman. The opportunity
to watch these magnificent
creatures, close-up, in their
numbers, has been a tradition
with tourists for decades
and I thoroughly enjoyed
and felt privileged to have
