The National Museum
Located opposite George Town Harbour,
this is the oldest public building on
Grand Cayman. It is also one of historical
significance having served as the country’s
first post office, courthouse and jail. It
was also at some point, a school, library,
church and bank. Over the years, it has
served many purposes and weathered
many hurricanes, but this stoic nineteenth-
century structure still remains. It is now
understandably the perfect building in
which to house the islands’ history which it
has done since 1979.
