Calabash Festival
Named after the calabash fruit which
was traditionally used to produce eating
utensils among other things, this festival,
held annually in July, seeks to promote
the island’s craft industry.

Cudjoe Head Celebration
This annual event is a celebration of the
island’s African ancestry and is named
after an African slave, Cudjoe who ran
away from his master and was caught,
lynched and killed as a warning to other
slaves. Live entertainment, road races,
masquerades and exhibitions are all part
of the celebrations.
