Booby Pond
Nature Reserve
The Booby Pond Nature Reserve is located
on Little Cayman where visitors can spot
the Red-Footed Booby which is native to
the island. Over 2,500 nests are on
the Reserve, the largest in the
Western Hemisphere! These
birds can be easily spotted
on the branches of the
trees in the forest and
mangroves during the
month of February,
which is their
peak nesting
period.
Other birds such as the West
Indian Whistling Duck, Herons
and Egrets will also be seen
here. The 334 acre Reserve
became a protected
area in 1994 when it was
designated a Wetland of
International Significance
under the terms of the
Ramsar convention.
