Lavinia Marsham’s
Carnival Corner
For the people who are
interested in St. Maarten’s
Carnival and who follow
carnival-related events and
discussions as the build-up
to the festival approaches,
Lavinia’s Facebook
Carnival Corner blog/vlog
is an excellent source of
information. She confidently
interacts with her viewers,
conducts live interviews and
as she boldly expresses: "I
talk the good, bad, and down
right ugly. No sugarcoating."
Lavinia was born and
raised on St. Maarten. She
holds a degree in Business
Management, works full
time as the Academic
Coordinator at the American
University of the Caribbean
School of Medicine, is a
Customer Service trainer
and the manager of a local
band. Lavinia is also a co-
chaperone for pageants.
“For me, pageantry is life
especially as I have been
in pageants where I was
crowned and also where
I was placed as a runner
up”, she shared. Hers is
obviously a full, active
schedule, but she still finds
time to write short stories,
read ferociously and host
her Carnival Corner.
Opinion-sharing, reviews
and constructive criticisms
are the gist of Carnival
Corner, all done with the aim
of assisting promoters and
carnival’s governing body
to improve their craft. “I
always say, we the people
are carnival and without us
there is no carnival.” Lavinia
expressed.
