n 2017, Julissa Woodley
launched Caribbean Tribes
Carnival Troupe with a
burst of colour. Sharday
Bennett joined her a year later
as co-troupe leader.
For the past two years, they
have been lighting up the
roads of St. Eustatius during
the carnival festivities and
this year will be no exception.
Visitors usually come from
other islands such as Curacao
and St. Maarten to join them,
and every year the invitation
is extended to carnival lovers
around the world to visit
Statia during this time of year
to participate in this cultural
expression with them.
This troupe is about fun and
unity! As they proceed along
the carnival route during the
parade each year, the group’s
cohesiveness is evidenced
in their well-choreographed
movements as they perform
for the judges at various
points. And they were winners
these past 2 years!
