Heritage Trail, St. Croix
Sign posts mark a 72 mile route between Frederiksted and Christiansted, Hamm’s Bay in the west to
Point Udallon on the east of the island, which is also the most easterly point in the United Sates. This
allows visitors to conduct self-guided tours of the island’s coastline, tropical forests, cattle country as
well as its historical port towns.
Government House,
St. Thomas
The offices of the territorial Governor on St.
Thomas are housed in a three-story mansion
that was built between 1864 and 1867. This
building was restored in 1994 and features
verandas encased in iron-work, beautifully
crafted. Housing paintings by artists
including St. Thomas native, Camille Pissarro,
an Impressionist painter, admiring tourists
would visit this historic building. After the
hurricane in 2017 however, it has been
closed to the public. It is now being repaired.
