About the TCI’s response to this initiative I have received an incredible response in the TCI to the Summer Intensive; this only continues to fuel my passion for growing the intensive even bigger and ensuring that it reaches all levels of every island community in the TCI. I have students from all backgrounds, some that live within the TCI and some that even attend during their visit to the island. This diversity truly makes the program a place of learning, unity and friendship. About the other face of Ryesha, the Biology Major student . . . As a young child, I've always held my passion for academics and my passion for dance hand in hand. There's something so fulfilling about being able to conquer both that fuels my drive; I've set goals for myself since I can remember, always trying to make each day better than the next, each year more successful then the year before, and through it all I make sure to stay happy and healthy. When I graduated High School, I knew that my interest in pursuing dance and science would be challenging, but it has helped me in more ways than I could have imagined. Currently, I am a Undergraduate Honors Biology Major in New York City, as well as a Professional Dancer. Blending the two has always presented its difficulties, especially in terms of scheduling, but it has been rewarding and has truly helped shape my character. In addition to being a full-time student and dancing throughout the week, I also volunteer in the Cardiac Care Unit of the New York Methodist Hospital and recently, completed a National Model United Nations Conference as a Head delegate for the High Level Political Forum. To get everything done I remind myself that things have to be taken one step at a time, I try to stay as organized as possible, and stay on top of academic deadlines. I also try to make as much time for studying and class readings as possible, but, I also make enough time for Netflix to get me through the day! About her favourite things to do when on vacation in the TCI Aside from spending time with family and friends, I like visiting the incredible beaches, going out to the Thursday night 'Island Fish Fry' and definitely, visiting local restaurants for amazing island food.
