Bloody Point
On the Old Road one
mile west of Basseterre
is a site known as Blood
Point where, in 1626,
the combined forces of
the French and British
massacred 2,000 Carib
Indians, after which their
blood was said to have
run freely for three days.
Although today the
point is only marked by
a plague, it is still worth
a visit as just a short
distance from the point
is a headland which
affords some great
photo opportunities
with views of the nearby
islands of Saba and St
Eustatius.
