Lynch Plantation Museum

One of two museums on the island , the Lynch Plantation Museum , also known as the Berkel ’ s Domestic Museum consists of two , single room buildings , reminiscent of the island ’ s housing of a century ago . The buildings contain a remarkable collection of items from the same period including original furnishings , eyeglasses , various pictures , fishing and farming equipment . Private tours can be arranged but as it is located on the northeast side of the island , a taxi will be needed .

Smoke Alley Beach ( Oranje Beach )

Oranje Beach is more commonly known as Smoke Alley Beach due to the sand varying in colour from light beige to black . As this beach is located on the island ’ s Caribbean side it is good for swimming and snorkeling and so is also home to the island ’ s dive shops . Although popular , there are no amenities at this beach and so you must take your own food and drink .
