About his typical day
It can be gruelling. On a typical dance rehearsal
day, I awake at 8:45 am, take a shower then make
my way to the train station to get to work. Class
starts at 10:00 am. After 90 minutes, I take a 15
minute break just to drink water, eat an energy
bar or a banana, then I have an additional three
hours of rehearsals, an hour for lunch, then for the
next three hours there’s rehearsals which end my
day. That routine varies on show days, depending
where we are, what time we got in the day before,
whether or not we traveled or how many shows or
presentation we are to perform that day.
About difficulties he had to overcome
in this career
Ballet is not easy. I knew that from my first class
but the more serious I became about it, the more
I realized how difficult that art form really is.
There is the reality of working so hard for a role
and not getting the part; having to perform with
injuries because you have no understudies, or just
personality clashes with the artistic staff etc. I try
not to focus on negatives but instead focus on what
I can do to prevent a repeat of a situation or focus
on how to approach certain things in general. You
live, you learn and you get stronger. There’s no time
for whining.
