La Visite National Park
Parc National La Visite is located on
the ridge of the Massif de la Selle. Even
though it is one of only two National
Parks in Haiti, the park is relatively
small, covering 12 square miles but still
manages to preserve native grasslands
and forest. The ravines in this park allow
cloud forest to thrive - a great attraction
for bird watchers.

The Palace of Sans-Souci
Prior to the earthquake of 1842, the now
partially destroyed Palace of Sans-Souci
was compared to the Palace of Versailles in
France. Once home to Henri Christophe I,
slave turned king, what remain still show
snippets of its grandeur with decadent
staircases and several high arched windows.
The palace today still evokes in its visitors,
feelings of nostalgic appreciation for the
beauty it once was.

Gelee Beach
The longest stretch of sand in Haiti, Gelee
Beach has some excellent seafood restaurants
and during the month of August, it throbs
with enthusiastic musicians and dancers,
present for the Fete Notre Dame festival.
Visitors can see fishing boats bobbing on
the horizon and smell coconuts. They may
even see the odd cow on the beach as it is
surrounded by open meadow.
