Marie-Galante
Named after Christopher
Columbus’s ship Maria
Galanda, Marie-Galante is an
island that has enchanted
visitors for centuries.
Although it is possible to
witness the island’s rolling
hills and sugary white sands
in a half day trip, most
visitors opt to spend at least
an overnight so as to fully
enjoy all it has to offer. The
island’s main settlement of
Grand-Bourg has a visitor’s
center where you can learn
about the 19th-century
windmills and arrange a visit
to the famed 18th-century
plantation, Château Murat.
