Punta Cana Located on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana is perhaps the most popular destination for tourists, with its beautiful beaches and many hotels and resorts. Just outside the town of Punta Cana is Scape Park where visitors can experience zip-lining, dune buggies or Hoyo Azul Lagoon. If you are a surfer or just looking for a slower pace, just north of Punta Cana is the quiet fishing village of El Macao. Although home to a huge resort complex, the beach is still picturesque with coconut palms and deck chairs dotting the sands. As well as the beach, there is a golf course, shopping center and dozens of restaurants and other amenities to enjoy. This is home to a replica of a 16th century artisans’ village called Altos de Chavón which is perhaps the best place to shop for crafts. It is also home to the luxurious Casa de Campo resort which has a riding school, polo ground, tennis courts and the “Teeth of the Dog”, one of the Caribbean’s best Golf Courses which afford magnificent views of the ocean.
