Hobbies & Leisure Time
Chanelle is a very family oriented person and
has a special place in her heart for animals. It is
known in our neighbourhood that any stray dog
can stop by her home to get a meal and fresh
water.
She is very ambitious towards personal
development. It is an aspiration of hers to
become a motivational speaker and have her
own talk show to discuss important issues that
can impact and motivate others. Chanelle has
a passion for cooking and creating new dishes.
Dancing is also one of her hobbies and this she
uses as a medium of relaxation and expression.
Early Pageant Influences
Chanelle started modelling at the age of 11
when she signed up for a modelling school in
Curacao, but it wasn’t until age 16 that she started
modelling professionally. She was part of the first
Fashion Week in Curacao as a runway model and
also worked internationally at Merce dez Benz
Fashion week in Miami.
That was when her interest in the beauty world
was born. It wss a dream come true for her to dive
into the beauty world and to be an ambassador
for her country at the same time! Not only was
this her dream, it was a dream come true for her
father who always believed that his daughter
would become a Miss Curacao at some point.
Although he died 5 years ago Chanelle thought
it would be great to honour him by participating
for Miss Curacao and making both their dreams
come true.
Proudest Moment at Miss Universe
2017 Pagaent
Chanelle had multiple proud moments at the Miss
Universe competition. One of them was when
she roared the name of her country on the Miss
Universe stage. She shared that she was pumped
and honoured to yell her country’s name for the
whole world to hear! Her roar was one of the
loudest amongst the participants and the crowd’s
response gave her goose bumps and as she
described it, shot a wave of emotions throughout
her body. “I felt so proud to have the honour of
representing my country and my patriotism really
showed that night.”, she shared.

Other Interests
Chanelle loves dancing, cooking and traveling!
She thinks there’s something exciting about
experiencing a new culture foreign to your own.
She’s been traveling so much throughout her
reign that collecting odd souvenirs also became
a hobby of hers. Animals have always had a
huge place in her heart, so getting up close
and personal with exotic animals really gets
her excited. Cuddling with alpacas in Colombia
and kissing stingrays in Cayman Islands are two
exciting encounters she said she’ll remember
forever!
She loves getting involved with the elderly and
recently participated in a Beauty Day Project to
pamper the elderly with manicure/pedicures and
get them dolled up for their very own fashion
show at “Huize Habaai” Home for the Aged. She
finds it extremely important to make sure the
elderly have the necessary facilities for optimum
care. This is why she chose to create a foundation
that will gather financial support to improve
elderly homes in Curacao.
Beauty Routines/Secrets
Her morning beauty routine is making her face
is cleansed with a facewash or scrub and she
uses the necessary moisturizers to protect it
throughout the day.
At night Chanelle loves to use Estee Lauder’s
“Advanced Night Repair” serum. “ After a long
day, this is the best product to use on your skin
after removing all of your makeup. Your skin really
feels soft and refreshed the next morning. Also, to
prevent wrinkles, I like to use a little Vaseline around
my eyes at night.” she shares.
