About her decision to design
swimwear
I remember my draping class in college and
at the time, I was experienced in sewing but
never worked with 4-way stretch Lycra before
and our task was to sew a simple triangle bikini.
I struggled and it took me nearly 7 weeks to
get it completed (lol)! I was so determined and
focused on getting the job done that after that,
it naturally felt right to start with swimwear
because of the many challenges it involves and
also because I'm from a beautiful island...why
not!
About the source of inspiration for
her collections
I draw most of my inspiration from my home
here in the BVI. I also draw inspiration from my
many travels and experiences abroad. The entire
world is so vast and exciting that inspiration is
endless. I name each piece after either a person,
place or experience and it ties in nicely with
what the brand speaks about which is having
a product that not only speaks Caribbean but
empowers Caribbean women and women in
general to live through the collections which are
always bright and full of character!
Currently, our line is dominated more-so to
women but we do design men trunks, boy trunks
and girls swim and resort-wear as well.
About her favourite collection/
special piece
I've never wanted to put a stamp on my
"favourite" collection because I love every single
piece that I design BUT I have a one-piece that
I designed a few years back and it has the most
strappy back and is so detailed that it has to
be my favorite piece by far! It's actually still not
perfect in terms of construction and fit so I'm still
in the lab working on it ( lol).
About her pursuit of other markets
Currently, we are focusing now on attending
trade shows so that we can expand our market to
other hotels and boutique stores across the US,
Canada and Europe. We love the essence of our
brand and intend to keep it exclusive as much as
possible.
About her new collection
I'm super excited about my 2017 collection
because it has such depth and life with my most
successful partnership to date. The collection is
called e.v.o which stands for eccentric.versus.
original and what I wanted to do with this
collection is to really empower women through
the clothing and prints.
Our most recent collaboration with this
collection includes U.S. company, Otterbox , that
highlighted two of our 4 prints for this collection
on their fashion symmetry series case! Our cases
have been featured on "The View", "The Chew",
"The Real" and other websites and television
programs, which is great for the brand and the
BVI on a whole. Our cases are also exclusively
sold in hundreds of Verizon stores across the US
and on verizon.com. See our link below:
