“Aruba is a 69.08 mi² Island where there is
always something for the visitor to do - those
who like the beaches, taking a plunge in
that big aquarium called the ocean or doing
water sport such as surfing, diving, kiting or a
banana ride.
For the visitor who likes the casino, there
are many to choose from and if you like
adventure and want to discover what is out
there in nature, rent a jeep or go on an off-
road adventure to “Conchi”. Hike through
the National Park or visit one of the natural
bridges. Although the largest natural bridge
collapsed a few years ago, along the coast line
there are a few others worth visiting. There
is one such bridge which many people don’t
visit due to its location in San Nicolas. It is
spectacular but a hike is required to get to it.
Beaches such as Palm Beach, Eagle Beach
and Baby Beach are where people can relax
and unwind or simply float around in the
turquoise blue ocean. Island tours can be
done in an off-road vehicle, motorcycle,
bicycle or riding a horse. For the active sportsy
visitors, there are many bike cross, mountain
biking, cross fit and, walking and running
activities. The Aruba International Half
Marathon happens to be my favorite. Taking
place in March, it guides you from one side of
the island from San Nicolas over its length to
the Hotel area.
Food-wise, again this is a melting pot. You
will find over 200 restaurants and snack places
with a choice of French, American, Italian,
Indian and Caribbean Cuisine. Place such as
“O’Neil’s Kitchen” for delicious dishes such
as steam fish or roti, or do like the locals do
and visit “Zeerovers” where the seating is
simple, where the fish and shrimp you choose
are being served in a simple way but, when
the ambiance of the restaurant that is located
right at the ocean, with that special flavor
of fish and shrimp served with the “Pan bati
(corn bread) hits you, and you do like the
locals do - you eat, have fun and afterwards,
sit and relax and wish there was a hammock
to sleep in. For lunch, visit “Moustachef”
where the local food is served buffet-style.
Delicious food for a very reasonable price and
please leave space for dessert, as you can not
miss that!
Come to Aruba and let me know what
was your favorite experience during your
vacation.”
