I’d never been exposed to,
and a new crop of contestants
with various cultures that I
had to embrace. However, I
was pleasantly surprised to
know that we share so much in
common as it related to culture,
especially in comparison to
Dominica for example, their
Creole heritage and sometimes
I felt right at home,” she
expressed. “Every pageant is
never an easy pageant. Different
pageants bring different
challenges. In this case, funding
was one of the challenges
that presented itself. I’m so
grateful to my sponsor from the
2019 National Carnival Queen
Pageant and Jaycees – F.I.C.S for
lending their support. With that
said, the product on the night
was as a result of my team’s
hard work, resourcefulness, and
investment.”
Earlyca’s evening wear “Helen
at Midnight” was made by
Saint Lucian dress maker,
Helena Isaacs and her creative
National wear was immaculate!
“It represented everything that
I was – a proud Saint Lucian
country girl, showing off our
national colors and highlighting
the craft from Choiseul. My
talent was a drama piece
which encapsulated the age
old premise that a woman’s
role is purely domestic but in
today’s society the female is
empowered beyond the home
dominion.”
Exuding confidence, Earlyca
explained that her former role
as St. Lucia Carnival Queen
2018 was relished. “It propelled
me toward the planning and
organization part of pageantry,
which was evidenced in the
successful realization of the
first ever Mr. and Miss Laborie
Primary School Independence
Pageant. In addition, my
teaching role has been greatly
enhanced with the ones under
my care looking up to me as a
source of inspiration.”
Other than her love for
pageants, Earlyca is an avid
fitness enthusiast with a keen
interest in cosmetology. She
regards herself as a youth
advocate and is a member of
the Chosen Stones Builders for
Christ Catholic Youth Group
and Choir. “I work
with a team of
young people in
my community to
help curb the social
ills that plague the
youth of Choiseul,”
she shared. It is
Earlyca’s wish to
pursue a law degree.
She hopes that her
current Miss OECS
title will help her
serve as an even
better ambassador
to Choiseul, Saint
Lucia, and the
member states of
the OECS.
Her advice to young people:
“Be unapologetically you. Be
fearless, be fierce, but most
importantly be humble. Never
forget where you came from!
Be open to adapting to change
however, and embracing
new cultures. Appreciate the
simple yet beautiful things of
life. Remember, each day that
you awake is an opportunity
to strive to become a better
version of yourself. Don’t you
dare take it for granted!”
Earlyca describes Saint Lucia ,
“The Helen of the West”, as an
island of beauty and beautiful
people, a destination rich in
experiences of unique art,
heritage, and breathtaking
scenery.”
