Saba’s Runway
PlaceS of Interest
Mount Scenery
Although there are several trails on the island, most visiting hiker’s dream trek is to climb Mount
Scenery - Saba’s highest mountain. Ascending to the island’s highest point is no walk in the park yet,
it is truly fulfilling. As you ascend this pristine rainforest with its varied vegetation, be prepared for
scenic views on the way to the top. Veer off to the Elfin Forest, the radio tower or head right to the
top of the Kingdom, where, when the protective clouds part, majestic views await.
Arriving on Saba by air will bring you to one of the shortest commercial runways in the world.
Only 400 metres long, cliffs and ocean heralds scenic arrivals and departures from what is one
of the most beautiful, yet least known islands in the Caribbean. With daily 15 minute flights
from neighbouring Dutch Sint Maarten, a day trip to Saba is quite easily achieved. Skilled pilots
effortlessly glide in and out of this volcanic island’s short runway, error-free, while you relax and
enjoy the beautiful scenery on your way in and out of Saba, the Caribbean’s Unspoiled Queen.
