Explore the Island
You may want to explore Montserrat at
your own pace, so renting a vehicle may
be more convenient, but you can also take
a local bus, sightseeing along the way.
From the island’s north to the south, you
will travel along one main road which is
interspersed with twists, turns and steep
hills, but it is a scenic drive.
If you opt to rent a car, note that driving
is on the left. Get a local driver’s license
from the Police Headquarters, grab a road
map from the Visitor Centre in Brades,
and explore, but look out for the volcano
Exclusion Zone signs. You are not allowed
to access areas in this zone without an
authorized guide.
Getting to the places of interest on the
island are all off the one main road, veering
either right or left at various points. If you
think you may have overlooked something,
just ask a local. They are friendly and will be
glad to help.
