Photo Credit: Montserrat Tourism Board Runaway Ghaut Deep ravines carrying rainwater from Silver Hills, Centre Hills, and Soufrière Hills into the sea are known as Ghauts. The island has many of these ghauts but water does not flow through them continuously, however, there is one known as the Runaway Ghaut, a popular tourist attraction, which is a bit different. You will always find cool, running water here and it is rumored that anyone who drinks from it must return to Montserrat! These ghauts are important to the island’s ecosystem and water supply.
