Sendall Tunnel
Built in 1894 and named after Walter Sendall the then Governor of the Windward Islands, this tunnel
joins two parts of the city of St. George. Carved from the rock which was an engineering feat at
that time, the 340 feet of tunnel is narrow but accommodates both pedestrian and vehicular traffic
which will take you to either the St. George’s Esplanade or to the Carenage.

St. George’s market, like most markets on the
Caribbean islands, is a colourful place. Filled with
umbrella-covered tables of local vegetables and
fruits; friendly vendors engaging tourists and
locals as they walk by, perusing the many local
offerings that sit on make-shift tables; the smell of
spices hovering in the air as if to remind everyone
that this is the Isle of Spice - the Grenada market
is certainly a must-visit. It is conveniently located
close to the Cruise Ship terminal and is also a great
source of Spice Isle souvenirs.
