Guavaberry staff, Patricia Guavaberries are extremely rare. Guavaberry Liqueur is Sint Maarten’s gift to the world. It’s quite impressive to see and I must admit that this made my heart swell with pride. I may not have not been born here but I love this island with all my might and here I was, in the center of where a true St. Maarten product is made. Guavaberry is synonymous with St. Maarten. The two go hand in hand. So, next time you find yourself here on this beautiful and very unique paradise I call home, do yourself a favor and drop by the Guavaberry Emporium. Taste the different rums and liqueur and try the Guavabery Colada or other Guavaberry cocktails, such as Mange Tango. While the mini bottles are certainly very handy and will make for great gifts, get some of the hand painted bottles. These bottles are absolute works of art. Each bottle is painstakingly painted by hand Fritz Pantophlet right there at the Emporium. If this is not unique enough for you, you can also order a personalized hand-painted bottle of either the Guavaberry Liqueur or the Guavaberry Rum. While you’re at it, don’t forget to treat yourself and get at least one of the big bottles for yourself. Believe me, there is nothing sadder than going for another glass of Guavaberry and realizing the bottle is empty. Better make that two. Which reminds me, Ghislaine and Stephen, my bottle is done so, “ah soon comin’ fo’ mi guavaberry” Mango Tango 2 oz. Mango Rum Liqueur 1 large ripe mango Juice of 1/2 West Indian lime 1 tablespoon Flower Honey 1 pinch salt 1 pinch grated fresh ginger Peel the mango and cut the flesh into pieces. Add all ingredients in a blender with a little ice. Blend till smooth. Pour into large chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with lime peel and fresh flowers.
