St Kitts National Museum
Known today as the Old Treasury Building and what is now home to a museum, is one of the largest
public buildings in the capital. Constructed with an archway through which people would pass on
arrival or leaving the island, the building was often referred to as the Gateway to the Island. As well as
the historic architecture of the building itself, it contains an ever growing number of artifacts depicting
life on the island through the sugar and slave trade eras, right up to the island’s independence.

Cruise to Shitten Bay
As the island has many secluded and hidden bays, many people take a cruise along the coast, often
stopping off at Shitten Bay which is where, in the past, slave ships would anchor to inspect their
cargo before heading for the island’s port. There is a ship wreck on the site. This is also a great area
for snorkeling.
