Bath Hotel
Now partially restored and housing the Nevis Government offices, this was the very first
hotel in the entire Caribbean region. Built in 1787 by trader, John Higgins, it was the place
the wealthy would visit for access to the consistently warm, on-site volcanic mineral springs,
thought to have healing powers. Today, many visitors to the site still enjoy a soak in the hot
mineral water and leave feeling invigorated.
Cottle
Church
The first integrated church on the island was
Cottle Church which today is nothing more
than a well preserved ruin. It has an interesting
history, displayed on placards nearby, which
states that anyone of any religion or status was
always welcome.
The walk to the church is also likely to be interesting
as you will most certainly encounter free-roaming
donkeys and monkeys on the way.
