island where you will be treated to breath-taking views of the BVI’s other islands.
These are just some of the things you can do on the third largest island of the British Virgin
Islands. On Virgin Gorda, The Baths is one of the main tourist attractions. Large granite boulders
lie on the edge of the sea, within which pools form. This picturesque, natural wonder is indicative
of the islands’ volcanic history.
Ciboney, Arawak, and Carib Indians were the island’s first inhabitants. Christopher Columbus’ 1493
discovery and the subsequent European settlers and pirate activity made life in these parts an
interesting, oftentimes tumultuous existence. The British took over in the late 17th century.
The four largest islands are Tortola, Anegada, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke.
