Visit “The Strip”, a street in the capital, The Valley, lined with vendors that sell some
of the best local food on island! The range of selection is quite good. Ken’s BBQ is
a quintessentially Anguillian experience!
Visit as many beaches as you can get to! They’re all gorgeous, but each beach
seems to have its own “personality”.
Go on a hike! Tours of National Heritage Sites can be arranged through the
Anguilla National Trust, with very charismatic, capable and knowledgeable tour
guides. There are also exciting sites underwater, and snorkeling tours are a must.
Take a trip out to one of the many cays.
Blanchard’s Beach Shack
Visit as many restaurants as you can get to. Each offers a unique gastronomic
experience and several offer live entertainment coming from the talented pool
of artists on island. Acts like Omari Banks, Shea Shea and Kevin, 12th Avenue,
Natty and the House and King Springer are always a bonus with great food.
Come and experience the Anguilla Summer Festival! There are other festivals
that take place throughout the year: Festival Del Mar around Easter time and the
Literary Festival in May.
Although it is often framed by international media as a private island, Anguilla
offers something for everyone. Accommodations on the island range from cozy
apartments to luxury suites. Good food is never too hard (or too expensive, thank
goodness) to find. And the best experiences - like waking up in the Anguillian
morning sun or getting the velvety white and champagne sands between your
toes - are absolutely free!
