The Editor says . . .
Welcome 2018!
The Caribbean experienced immense publicity in 2017, although for reasons we wish
were not so sad. Hurricanes Irma and Maria were relentless, wreaking havoc on some of
these beautiful islands. Thankfully, they are resilient and have already started to rebuild.
Cruise ships are calling and hotels and restaurants are re-opening their doors. We
encourage you to visit because the Caribbean islands are waiting to welcome you.
One such island is Saba, a small Dutch overseas dependency, described as the Unspoiled
Queen of the Caribbean, and rightly so. On this five square mile island, red-roofed
houses sit in clusters on narrow streets and rolling hillsides, in villages where crime is
virtually unknown. I guarantee you’ll be captivated by its natural, timeless beauty, which
is evident everywhere. In his interview, Saba’s Commissioner of Tourism, Bruce Zagers
gives us an insight into what makes Saba such a charming island.
We invite you to add Saba and other Caribbean islands to your travel list this year.
Happy Reading.
