The Food

With so many different cultures living in Belize, it is a gourmet’ s delight, with foods from a variety of different Central American countries, East India, Maya and Africa as well as the Caribbean. Although the most abundant dish is the creole rice and beans or stewed recado chicken, it is always possible to get the Central American garnaches, panades, tamales, escabeche or chimole or a Garifuna dish comprising a mix of sea food, cassava and vegetables.
