I ’ m sure this is one of the most exhausted questions , but no matter how often it ’ s asked , we always find each answer intriguing . Why did you decide to become a fashion designer and from where do your inspiration designs come ? I am a Do-It-Yourself kind of girl at heart . I started my first business revamping clothing and accessories maybe 6 years ago . I ’ ve always been into fashion , it holds a place in my heart from revamping my own items to styling friends and now dressing my clients in my designs . I couldn ’ t imagine being anything but a designer and businesswoman . I love what I do . My # LoveBomb is fashion . Having the opportunity to do what I love brings me so much joy . I pray that everyone gets the chance to experience their # LoveBomb .
My designs are inspired by island life and the 70 ’ s Studio 55 era . I would love to have been a disco party girl back then .
Pinterest is my online mood board , which I love so much . I draw inspiration from interior design , nature , fashion , and photography . They are all my sources of inspiration .
When was LoveBomb born ? I learned to sew in late 2013 while taking a 6 week Sewing for Beginners and Sewing Alterations class with Community Education in Bermuda . Launching my first collection in July of 2014 during Bermuda Fashion Week was a huge accomplishment for me . I took a risk . I was extremely new to designing and producing garments and I ’ m still learning , three collections in . I ’ m currently in my 2nd year at London College of Contemporary Arts studying BA Fashion Design . I learn something new each day which makes this experience a great one . I ’ m working towards expanding as a brand and every lesson counts . I ’ ve come to realise that studying Fashion is not only for me but to give my clients the best experience when choosing LoveBomb Inc .
Very first collection . What did it represent ? “ Polished ” my very first collection , of all-white lace and textured cotton fabrics . Inspired by island life of course . Day partying is a big thing in Bermuda mostly on Sundays . I designed garments which can go from life at the beach to cocktails at a weekend day party .
LoveBomb ’ s target ? Our # Lovers have a strong interest in fashion and looking great for any occasion is a must . She is sassy with a bit of edge , yet always feminine . LoveBomb Inc is for the socialite who isn ’ t afraid of standing out in a crowd . In order for our customers to stand out , providing the most beautiful prints and fabrics with extraordinary textures is a must .
Mentors ? From the time I launched my first collection I ’ ve taken part in a mentor program organised by Shiona Turini and the Bermuda Fashion Festival . Its a four month program beginning in April and ending in July . Pairing 6-8 local designers with fashion editors and stylists both hand chosen and paired up by Shiona and the Bermuda Fashion Festival coordinators .
My latest mentor is Kenya Hunt of Elle Magazine whom I actually still keep in contact with . Christina Chung of Fisher Footwear at the time and Tiffany Reid formerly of Allure were my mentors during my first and second year of the mentor program . Taking part in the program has helped me tremendously in finding out who my client is and with my skill set as a hands on designer . Over the past three years of designing I have made each and every garment . Being able to continuously work on my craft during the program was a huge help .
On a personal note , how much of your personality is reflected in the clothes you design , if at all . Resonating with my personal style , my brand is for the socialite in you . While each garment is both statement and wearable I aim to make my # Lovers feel good while wearing LoveBomb Inc . In saying this , I love statement pieces . I want my # Lovers to stand out in a crowd and let their clothing speak for and before they even have to .
