Reenactment of the Battle of 1797
In Old San Juan, the Regimiento Fijo de Puerto
Rico will host this reenactment during the hours
of 10am-3pm 2019. This is an annual event with
simulated gun battles, fi ring of cannons and
more. The costumed cast provides explanations
of the animated history lesson as it progresses.

La Campechada
An event surrounding the island’s art and culture
to be held in Ponce. Each year it honours a
different Puerto Rican artist and in 2019 the
chosen artist is Ponce musician Juan Morel
Campos who was born in 1857 and died in 1896
at 39 years old. He is thought to have produced
over 700 compositions.

Festival de la Piña (Pineapple Festival)
A day dedicated to celebrating the pineapple in
La Parguera-Lajas with farm tours, local food and
live entertainment.

Noche de San Juan (Saint John’s Eve)
Saint John the Baptist is celebrated during
this festival, where at midnight, people jump
backwards in to the sea seven times for good
luck. Parties are also part of this celebration.
