Hyde Park Tropical Garden
The family-owned Hyde Park Tropical Garden is one of the island’s grandest gardens. Located in St.
George’s on Woolwich Road, its aff ords a view over the lagoon, marina, parts of the city of St. George
and the south of the island. It was initially a small garden cultivated for the family’s enjoyment, but
generations of care has turned it into the visitors’ attraction it is today.

Museums display artifacts depicting
history, some in grandiose form and
others with simplicity and a whole
lot of soul. This museum, is soul-fi lled.
Located in the parish of St. Andrew, it
is the owner, Mr. Rome’s compilation
of relics marking life as it once was
on the island, and specifi cally life as
it was in his community and home
in years gone by. The small, rustic,
brightly painted shed stationed
on his property houses childhood
memories, from an earth oven to
suitcases, to a slate, which students
would have used to write on because
notebooks were not in common use
at that time, a cassava mill, and much,
much more. It will be an educational
tour, eliciting many oohs and aahs as
you listen to the stories surrounding
each piece, told by Mr. Rome himself.
Do make this one of your stops
during your exploration of the island.
Entry Fee: EC$5.00.
