Apple Bay, Tortola
Apple Bay attracts surfers and if you stay a while, you will understand why they gravitate to this beach
on Tortola. It is simply perfect for the sport with high, rough waves and winds that are just right. A
general surfer ambience prevails around this area too, in conversations amongst the ones whose eyes
furtively glance at the swells. The beach is just a small strip and although most come for the surf, you
can enjoy just being on the beach while savouring the view of Jost Van Dyke and the northwest coast
of Tortola.
Earning its name from its exceptional length, Long Bay seems to go on and on with no end in sight.
Along its impressive length, there are great swimming spots. It is a nice location for lovers walks
or lazy afternoon strolls. Visitors who intend to sunbathe should be aware that shade is limited
so sunscreen, hats and umbrellas will be needed. These can be rented from a shop here. With
beautiful sand and clean, clear water, this is considered by some to be the best beach on the island.
