INITIAL TOURISM
Although having the potential
as a tourist destination for
Americans from their purchase
in 1917, it wasn’t until the
sanctions on Cuba that the
islands started to enjoy the
benefits that tourism offered
as a form of income for the
islanders. Today the islands
have become a popular
tourist destination and were
the Obama’s choice for their
first vacation after leaving the
White House. The main three
islands have different choices
for tourists to enjoy but it is St.
Thomas which is probably best
known as that is one of the
most popular ports of call for
Eastern Caribbean cruise ships.
