PLACES OF INTEREST
Although Trinidad could be considered a bird watchers dream vacation spot with places of interest like
Pointe-à- Pierre Wild Fowl Trust, Caroni Swamp & Bird Sanctuary and the Asa Wright Nature Centre, there
are other places of interest for those who are not so interested in the island’s bird life. As Trinidad’s physical
landscape is so diverse, many visitors opt to take a tour from coast to coast but here are some other points
of interest the island has to offer:
FORT GEORGE
Although Fort George was
built by the British in 1804
in an effort to be prepared
if the Spanish, whom
the British snatched the
island from in 1797, were
to return, it never did see
battle. Since 1886 the fort
has been used as a tracking
station but located 100ft
above Port of Spain, it is
open for visitors to enjoy
spectacular views of the
island’s west coast.
