Romney Manor and
Old Road Town
Old Road on St Kitts is the name of
Britain’s first town in the Caribbean and
above it today are the 17th-century
Romney Manor sugar estate and the
nearby church of St Thomas, which was
the first Anglican Church to be built in
the Caribbean. Visitors to the estate can
see live demonstrations at its Artisans
workshop and also enjoy the beautiful
gardens that surround the manor.

Rainforest
Despite St. Kitts relatively small size, it is
perhaps unusual in so far as it is home
to one of the worlds’ only expanding
rainforests. Whilst all the rest of the
world’s rainforests are disappearing due to
development, the one on St. Kitts which
takes up a quarter of the land is expanding
and will continue to do so as it is designated
as being a National Park. Visitors to the
rainforest can enjoy trails where they may
be able to see some of the island’s wildlife
including the green vervet monkeys as
they swing from tree to tree. In some places
along the trails it is possible to stop and cool
off in a natural spring.

Fairview Great House and
Gardens
Fairview is a French colonial mansion that
dates back to 1701. Today visitors can
experience how the grand life was in those
days as original furniture has been restored
and the kitchen and bathing room remain
the same as they were in those days when
heated rocks were used to heat spring water
for baths. To further appreciate the grandeur
of those days, visitors can also explore the 2
acres of gardens that surround the mansion
and enjoy the many birds and monkeys that
call the gardens home.
