Angela, the Artist
I have been experimenting with art since childhood, I especially like to use my hands to build things, which is why I have numerous collections. The real painting came when I was in junior college in art class and then on to University where I was provided with the tools to create.
As an artist I have had 4 major solo art shows. 2004- Subconscious Works of Art, held at the Mexican Institute of Culture and History. Guests included the Ambassador and I was inaugurated by the Honorable Sir Colville Young, the Governor General of Belize who was appointed by the Queen.
In 2006, I had“ Hot Chicks Can Paint Too” which was held at the Image Factory and opened by the then Prime Minister, the Honorable Said Musa. Here is where I launched my first book,
“ The Light, the Dark and Everything in Between”, and the PM read excerpts throughout the night. I then took the same exhibit to Belizean Arts on the Island of Ambregris Caye some months after.
My final Exhibit“ Impulse” was again held at the Mexican Institute of Culture and History. This was a huge exhibit with art, installations and performances alike. My second book“ Artists Confessions” was also launched here.
I have been featured in joint exhibits,“ Women in Art”,“ She mean We” and featured in calendars and books launched throughout the Caribbean. I was selected to represent Belize in Trinidad and was featured in a calendar showcasing Caribbean women in Art. Part of the exhibit was launched in Port of Spain, Trinidad with CLICO, where the art remains today. You can also see some of my work in the museum on Belize.
