Located in the hamlet of Crayfish River , the Kalinago Barana Aute was developed to showcase the culture and tradition of the Kalinago people . The name means , “ Carib Cultural Village by the Sea .”
It showcases the Kalinago traditional way of life and houses extracts of their history including interpretations of their traditional names , language and culture . During a tour of the Cultural Village , you will witness traditional activities such as canoe-making , basket-weaving , calabashcarving , cassava bread-making , and more . You will also be treated to cultural presentations and souvenirs can be purchased .
With this ethnic tourism comes economic benefits for the people in the Territory . Guests also benefit as they gain an appreciation for a culture that has survived many centuries . A proud culture , fiercely guarded and well-preserved .
A small fee will have to be paid to enter the Cultural Vilage .
