Alarm bells over climate change and other environmental issues have been rung louder in the last decade by a growing number of researchers and scientists . And yet it appears we continue to inch towards the dreaded point of no return – the earth is said to be getting worse and moving closer to irreversible change .
Never has it been a more pressing time to have as many environmental advocates on deck , considering the current ecological trajectory . Fortunately , there has been a growing number of groups and individuals joining in the clamor and effort to make this world a better place to live in . The following are three of the foremost organizations engaging in environmental advocacy .
statement . It combines two environmental entities : the Alliance for Climate Protection and the Climate Project .
The group develops a grassroots network by recruiting and training climate speakers and leaders across the globe . It has trained and empowered 31,000 activists representing 149 countries of all ages and walks of life to fight for just climate solutions , and to inspire and mobilize their respective communities to take the right action at critical points .
The Climate Reality Project organizes an annual 24 Hours of Reality campaign , which is a 24-hour live broadcast focusing on the climate crisis and available solutions . The broadcast , reported to have a potential reach of
400 million , features leaders , elected officials , musicians , celebrities and a host of climate change presentations .
The project has created and shared a wide range of digital communications to make the climate crisis a personal cause for millions of people , to show them how to solve it and what each person can do to make a difference . The group has churned out practical explainer and toolkit content in e-book format , available for download , with new e-books having been downloaded more than 5,500 times .
The COVID-19 pandemic and recent instances of systemic racism has led the organization to reinforce its focus on justice in climate solutions . They are pressing members of the U . S . Congress to pass measures that protect frontline workers and communities , and ensure recovery efforts via green jobs and clean energy , according to its
2020 annual report .
At present , The Climate Reality Project shares its message of urgency , hope and solutions with over 1.5 million followers from Facebook , Instagram
