it is also my responsibility to help create awareness about disabilities and the capabilities of the people that live with them . Unfortunately , the institution itself was not wheelchair-friendly , but upon my enrollment made the decision to change and built a ramp allowing for accessibility to my classes .
Proverb 4:23 says , “ Above all else , guard your heart for it ’ s the wellspring of life .” This taught me an awareness of what to hold on to and what to let go of in life . I am an introvert who reflects greatly on events that have shaped my development , both positively and negatively . I love reading magazines and novels and watching National Geographic . I am a fan of wheelchair basketball and love being in the arena cheering on the game . I also participated in shotput and wheelchair racing , though only for fun and not for a professional competition .
Throughout my life experiences , the challenge of accepting my disability and adjusting my social life has taught me the most . I have learned to be content with what I have , utilize what I have and never compare myself to others . It is the differences between each of us that make society beautiful .
