In 2013 I was selected for paralympic swimming representing Costa Rica in the San José 2013 Para-Central American Games . However , by the end of these games , I decided to withdraw from the competition . Instead , I recognized my dream of becoming involved with the organization itself and through costarrican delegations , to help others achieve their dreams . I began looking for opportunities to train in sports administration and management . The knowledge I gained opened the doors for me to hold an executive position in the Paralympic Committee of my country .

I believe that as women with disabilities we must continue fighting to break paradigms and establish bridges for those who come after . I believe one of those ways is the Miss Wheelchair World pageant as it aims to change the stereotypes of an ideal beauty implanted by a consumer society . Likewise , it is a means of social inclusion allowing women with disabilities to be visible and providing them with tools to become future leaders in favor of the fight for women ’ s rights .
